2006 is the first year of traction control.
With that being said, I loved my S2000. I daily'd mine for about 5 months. Everything is geared towards the driver. All of the radio controls/ac controls can be changed without your hands leaving the steering wheel. It's a very responsive car. The gearbox is one of the best I have ever used, and add a short shifter to it, and it's like heaven.
They are VERY unforgiving cars. Even the ones with traction control can be a handful in the rain.
I'm 6 ft tall, and 160 pounds. It wasn't bad at all. Only thing that sucked was stopping at red lights, the windshield border would block out the light.
Best thing to do, drive one for yourself. And if you go to Miami all the time, get a motion detecting alarm, and seat locks. I you have any other questions, pm me.

This car has been my daily for a year and a half now and it is defiantly fun. Like everyone said it lacks torque and doesn't make much power below 6k, but that’s honda. However that can be fixed slightly with some rear end gears and a tune with a VAFC to lower vtec. It is expensive to mod and is pretty much maxed out power wise from the factor. You will notice this when you put an intake, exhaust etc. on it and not gain very much at all.

Im outta rep... Sorry more tomorrow.
And thanks everyone, ^^^ Yea almost all hondas have no trq stock, and only get HP after vtec engages in the higher RPMs, its the way of the honda.
What do you mean by rear end gears? Also I was thinking the samething, a vtec controller, intake, header, exhaust, and a good tune, and I'll be happey for some time! till im 27 and can afford to boost the s2000, lol
And again, no trq is not a problem for me, being useto a 91 miata, 85 crx, 97 corolla, 91 GST (had some trq, it was stock other then the 16g turbo upgrade) and now, my best! 97 civic, SOHC FTW! lol
I gotta say my dads lincon town car has the most trq of cars i've driven. LMAO
So as for alarms and safety!
Quick release steering wheel
Electrical and Fuel Cut off switch
Silient Alarm with vibrating Pager (sensitive motion decetion)
Lock Bolts for seats
and Lowjack? lol

stock s2000 has 4.10 rear end gears. a couple different companies make 4.44, 4.56 and 4.77 are the popular ones. They let the car accelerate quicker as long as you can shift quick too. although they give you better acceleration they also shorten the top speed, not by much though.

they are great competitive cars for autocross stock or non and beautiful to watch
after 20 odd something years of driving FWD Civic's it was wierd to be in a RWD Honda.
Pending the year and what your future plans are you may need to do so upgrades to the rear end.
The only thing that keeps me away from them is the drop top. While I love it I am not used to having so many blindspots.
There was a guy in front of me at the track Friday night with a S2K and he couldn't get out of the 16's even after he took the spare tire out of the trunk.
He didn't seem to happy.

I see people out there spending money on the car to improve it … If you spend half that effort just working on your driving skills, making you and the car work together as a team, then you’ll go faster – period. To make the car go a second faster on the track takes a lot more energy and money than making yourself drive it one second faster.
