is it in good shape? my dad had one a long time ago, it was pretty fast.

how many miles?

as for things you can do to the car, honestly it depends on what you want, if it was mine, i would give it a major tune up, change all fluids! spark plugs, wires, fliters, etc etc,

and for mods, i would keep it simple, unless you have money to go crazy.

start with good aftermarket IC piping (intercooler piping) then upgrade to a large FMIC (front mount intercooler), then maybe get a HKS blow off valve. and upgrade the airfilter or replace it. Then you can jump into exhaust, look into a nice flowing exshaust, 2.5-3 inch in diameter, no cat, a ress. and a straight through muffler.

then you can pop in an aftermaket clutch, stage one or two, and then get a good set of shocks/coilovers, and lower the car some, get new wheels, and a good alignment, and you'll be good to go.

if the car is in good shape, and you trust the motor, get a boost controller and up the PSI a little.

THATS ALL IN MY OPINNION, PLUS I DONT KNOW MUCH ABOUT PROBES

REP FOR BEING DIFFERENT, AND BEING A NEW COMER, PLEASE KEEP THE CAR RICE FREE!

your car is already a blend of import and domestic.
The Ford Probe is a product of the joint Ford and Mazda venture called the AutoAlliance. It's unique body panels and interior were designed and manufactured in the Auto Alliance International Incorporated assembly plant located in Flat Rock, Michigan, the same plant that manufactured the mazda mx-6 coupe and mazda 626 sedan for the North American market.
The Ford Probe was introduced to the US market in 1989 and was nearly identical to the Mazda MX-6. Actually, the Ford Probe shares most of its mechanical parts with the Mazda MX-6 and 626. Both the Ford Probe and the Mazda MX-6 were based on the Mazda GD platform from 1988 to 1992, and on the GE platform from 1993 to 1997.
