Give the car a full tune-up. All fluids, filters, plugs, etc. See how it runs after that and make repairs as needed. You cant make it faster until it runs right.

the sticker about the weight is about im geussing 1500 to 1900 lbs and the hp is about 170 to 190

there not that light there more on the 2500-3000 side.. if it was a old protege id say ya the light. but anyway don't listen to the naa sayers that ok car but like the guy said fix and tune the car first then thinkabout modding it but you can cheat alittle on the way if yopu need new shocks then but sport ones in and so on that. id like to see here this goes to ... the people that are saying its crap well they forget that alot of the small ford are just remodeled mazdas i.e. ford esort mazda protege
