Ford has been tearing it up with all sorts of quality ratings in recent years, at times surpassing Toyota and even Honda, yet the preconceived and unfounded notion that they are lesser cars still remains.

The Flex is a good vehicle. Yes, the MSRP is pretty high, but do you know what you can walk out of a dealership paying for one of those right now? My guess is thousands less than MSRP, maybe even close to $10K less. Ford needs to move those vehicles and you can get a VERY good deal right now. With the money you save, you can buy gas for years.
just curious why Ford is some $20 billion in debt? i can agree that "some things Ford has been producing have been very reliable and productive but they still produce things that continue to have the same issues as before.

The black Flex looks sick! The front looks like the Range Rover, the back looks somewhat similar to the Honda Element mixed with the elongated xB.

I have no idea where your getting those gas mileage figures from man.

From fueleconomy.gov
Front wheel drive version
MPG (city)
17
MPG (highway)
24
MPG (combined)
19

AWD version
MPG (city)
16
MPG (highway)
22
MPG (combined)
18

Hardly 24 city 30 highway, and seriously seth, you think this is an SUV how? It has a 130mm ground clearance, which most ford CARS have. This isn't a SUV, its not a crossover, its a wagon.

Want a actual SUV with that sort of gas mileage? Toyota Highlander has good ground clearance, and gets 18mpg city, 24mpg highway. And seats 7 with the optional 3rd row seat. Oh, and for 39k you can get the hybrid thats 27mpg city 25mpg highway.

Or for 28k, you can get a rav4 with 7 passenger seating that gets 22mpg city 28mpg highway.

As much as I do like fords, yeah they've upped their quality but their gas mileage is still eons away from toyota.

lol, I used to sell toyota, rav4 can seat 7 with the 3rd row seat. The seats are kinda small, but it'll still seat 7.

Good for them if they can manage to pull that kind of mpg in the city, from what i've read the epa rating is pretty close though.

exactly, every other "crossover" is small. this thing is huge, and can seat 7 comfortably.

this is more of a soccer mom type, that wants to get away from there mini vans, or big v8 SUV's that get 12mpg.

I saw one of these on the interstate hovering around the Ford compound in Atlanta before they were released. I also recently parked my Element next to one. No one seems to have mentioned this, but it's HUGE. It's only 5" shorter (length-wise) and 2" narrower than an Expedition! xB comparison? Add 50% more weight (3060 vs 4600) and 3ft more length (167 vs 202). And that's the new, bigger xB.

At least Ford is considering fuel economy. Whatever gets people out of their Expeditions, I'm all for it. Ford's going to sell a lot of these when they're the only US automaker left in 6 months!
