how do you launch your car at the track? The thing i am really wondering about is the guys that drive fwd car?

I have had a rwd auto whered i just break torque it and go when the light chnged( im not sure how efective this was because thios was back in my street racng days). Now my awd where i just keep reving it between 5000 and 5500rpm and slip the clutch as fast as i can( not just side steping it) which produse 1.7 60s on street tires(god i love awd). Now how do yuo guys launch

i dont really remember how i used to launch my FWD.. but on my miata i rev it up to about 3500 and quick slip the clutch also. if i launch lower it bogs. and higher and i get the one wheel peel all through 3rd gear.. which NEVER happens on the street... then it will grab half way thorugh the 3rd gear spinning and bog like all hell... so.. 3500 it is with a quick slip

now on the street.. if i WERE to race someone.. you know only up to the speed limit i would launch at about 2700 - 3000 and let off the clutch quickly. this causes the ass end to drop little or no spin and shoot out of the hole

I rev it at 2000rpm constantly then let out the cluch without giving it gas untill i feel the cluch pulling down on the motor then i increase the gas quickly but i dont just stomp it i engage it evenly but quickly as i am doing this i am releasing the clutch at an even amount with it....i just ran at sunshine this wed that just passed and got a 1.90 60 foot time on futura ultra-zs(cooper cobras) street tires and stock suspension and i think i can do even better than that.......

epi paul has a sun pro tach that is very small that i am sure he would sell for a few buck(under 20). i am sure with buying him a beer or 2 you could get bill to wire that sucker up for ya and then consentrate on getting a new clutch and tranny.

and when i launch i stay steady at 2200 rpms then nail the fucking gas. by the time i get done doing what minor spinning i do i am already into v-tec and rocking someones world
