USF Baja and Formula 2008 pictures
Alright,
Hello all,
We got back a couple weeks ago, finally getting around to posting up some pictures. None of these are at comp, they are all from building and testing. I will get more up later. The races included Montreal, Illinois, Detroit, Tennessee
Anyways, I am the president of the University of South Florida Society of Automotive Engineers. I am also the welder for both the Formula and Baja teams.
I learned from past members 3 years ago, and have been hooked ever since. Everything on the cars is TIG welded with a Miller 300DX with ER 70S2 filler (everything is 4130 chromoly tubing). The CNC piece is part of an in house custom designed transmission case for the Baja team.
here are some pictures of this years cars. We placed 2nd in the nation in Baja, 1st last year.
Formula had some engine problems this year, so overall we didnt do too hot at the Formula SAE race.
well, enough talking, here are some pictures
These are in no particular order. Many were taken at a relatives house of a current member in between races.

HAHA, when I went to KSU we always joked about making a top 10 hotest girls in engineering but ran out of names after #3.
Do I spy regenerative braking?
Have you/are there any events in the future near Manhattan KS at the Milford offroad lake park? Baha destroyed my GPA, or maybe it was the beer, can't tell, but both were a blast!
(BTW, does USF run SOLIDWORKSFLOWWORKS in any of their labs?)
