sc300 or the vette. Wait, 88 vette, is that hte LT-1? I dunno, regardless make sure the optispark is replaced. Either way, those are gonna be the best for mods, vette of course is a 350CI, l98 or lt1, and the sc300 is a 2jz-ge, basically the supra tt motor, without the tt, no oil squirters, and has a distributer instead of coils.

Trust me, the BMW is NOT going to make power easily without swaps.

I think the Vette was the LT4?

I'd go SC300 as well. Its very expensive to handle the power you're looking for (entire drivetrain swap..engine needs a MHG, tranny wont last with 600+, diff wont last, brakes arent meant for that power, etc.) but otherwise an excellent choice and platform

go with the lexus, and dont even consider the BMW unless the timing belt has been changed, i have 2 friends that both got BMW's with over 100k and both belts snapped, and they are interference motors, so you would bend all sorts of shit

my timing belt snapped at 130k, granted, it only broke because the waterpump siezed, then destroyed the fan, luckily, it missed the radiator, only cost 800 bucks...

edit: oh yeah forgot, within a week of getting it, the valve cover seal leaked oil onto one of the ignition coils, fried it, then it went back the line and friend the ECU, thousand bucks real fast.
