Viper ACR thread
If your talking about a normal viper, than no its no where near a GT2 or Scuda.
I didn't realize a nanny car with 5043294832098 computers on board and a car with only ABS could be compared. Seems more like Apples to Oranges to me? A R35 GT-R has more computer assistance than needed and basically keeps the car stable for you, runs with that automatic tranny vs a Viper ACR which only comes with ABS and has a 6-speed tranny.
Which requires more skill IMO, I could also bring the Vette in here too but apparently thats out of your price range.
And like I said in other threads.
People like to compare prices
I could always buy a cheaper car and make it faster around a track too?
And about the people worrying about the interior, I didn't realize 240's had 'sporty' interior compared to the Viper. Only thing that I don't like is the steering wheel in the car but what can ya do?

i agree it has a bunch of computers and such( we are in a new world where technology rules) but is it not the point of going around faster? no matter how you do it? as long as you are getting around as fast as possible? we could argue that it needs 10 cylinders and 7 liters to accomplish its power but thats not the point, its getting around the track as fast as possible, point period. but i do agree it has a bunch of assists and what not.

No where near? I think you might be surprised at what the normal Viper can do. The recent Car and Driver test on Buttonwillow's 2.7 mile configuration put the ACR a full 4 seconds ahead of the GT2. The general consensus is the ACR would be about 3-4 seconds faster than the regular Viper. Which would put the normal Viper and the GT2 in the same ballpark.

If all that matters is going faster then the engineers would just put a computer chip in the steering wheel and turn it loose. It's tough to respect a driver's skill when it comes to that. F1 realized finally that too much tech in the cockpit took the driver out of the equation which is why they removed some of that crap. The result has been one of the most exciting F1 seasons in years.

You just have to appreciate the RAWNESS of this car. It is the same reason I love the Integra Type-R. Viper and the Teg are way different, I know. What they share is the simplicity in which they provide the driver with the experience.
Within the rules of the particular racing organization. Are you surprised to know that F1 which has always been the pinnacle of auto racing technology hasn't allowed ABS for more than 10 years and this year eliminated TC, launch control and pit-to-car electronics?

that was my nest point chuck, i agree, if sanctioning bodies prohibit them all is well i agree. but for a production car there are no rules correct? either way i agree about the nannies, i like a pure driving car but also like the aids that are out there just because it gives options. but im not disagreeing with any of you guys, the zr1 and acr are drivers cars no doubt.

I think there both awesome.. the viper is a bad ass car that I would NOT want the average old man driving.. The gtr seems more like the user friendly verison for your average person to have a "safer" time in.. Not that the gtr wont take its fair share of lives, you jus thave to be a little stupider in it
. Id honestly like to take one of each

I have a different view of all those "safety" nanny-tech electronics which began while riding shotgun in a Murci after the driver did a complete 360 at Sebring's turn 17 and the first words out of his mouth were "I didn't think it would do that."
That experience combined with all the wrecked nanny-tech cars on wreckedexotics.com makes me believe all those so-called safety aids are nothing more than a placebo and probably just as dangerous as they are helpful.
Put them on the SUVs and minivans where they will almost always do some good. But a sports car? Nope.
