my civic would do that sometimes, check ur fuel pump.

On the bosch cars there is a fuel pump relay - called the dme relay - that's the first thing I would replace and see if it clears up

I still have to finish my fuel pumps on my 325es and replacing the relays. Its been sitting for so long, Ive basically just given up on it.

I have a 1984 BMW 533i experiencing the same exact problem. The motor turns and all signals are great however it will not start.
