How would you guys react?
Im not going to say the name of the shop im just going to tell you my situation and try to keep it short. My turbo blew and I called this shop to have it brought in to diagnose the damage, theres a 2 month waiting list to get in, so I waited the 2 months and had it towed in. A week passes and the mechanic tells me the turbo is destroyed I need a new one, I had some extra cash laying around and said what the hell put a single turbo in it. He told me ok and said he would order the parts on monday.
I decided to pay for the parts because I didn't want to hold on to that much money(part of the reason im probably getting shitty service) a week passes and I don't hear from him so I call him and he says all the parts got in and he will start next week, this being a Wednesday and IMO he should have started the second the parts came in because I waited so damn long... 2 more weeks pass and Ive called and left messages and he hasn't gotten back to me.. He emails me and tells me itl be done by Friday, I call Friday leave a message and he doesn't call me back. I then get an email monday saying probably Friday again, I call Friday and he says he had to wait for one more part to get in and to call him on monday and he will tell me how much I owe him and hell tell me what time I can get my car. Come monday I called 4 times and left a message, No pickup or no call backs. Today, Wednesday, I get ahold of his assistant and she tells me hes driving my car and I said to her "Make sure he calls me today" and she says ok... Well he didn't call me and im FURIOUSE..
The car has been there almost 4 months, and Ive been 100% polite about the situation and havn't lost my cool.. I just wanna know what you guys would do in my situation and would it make you mad? The shop is an hour away so I cant just stop by.. Sorry its such a long read and sorry if its hard to read... Let me know guys. -Eric

Mechanics suck! Damn, I used to work as one, but the whole schedule thing doesn't apply.
A few weeks ago I had all my belts changed. It was at a friend's shop. The charge was only $100 bucks so I figured I'd let him mess with it as I was on spring break. I was the first to bring in the car that day at 8:00 am told it would be done by 10...then 11...then 1:30...then 3:00...then 4:00...I finally picked up the car at 5:00. I had to pick up a friend at the airport at 6:30. Made the deal not worth it.
But 3 months? I would've blown a gasket. The 2nd time he didn't return a call I would threaten legal action. Sorry though, your best bet is to go down there. It may seem far away, but they WILL NOT turn you away then. If you request to see your car, they have to do it for you.
Get a friend, drive down there, be stern, and you'll get what you want.

Wow, sorry to hear about your situation. It seems to me that when shops get a lot of customers and words spreads out about them, they grow a big head. This place has a waiting list, so I would expect them to be cocky. But if they have been doing business as long as it seems they have, it should be second nature to follow up with your customers.
I would talk to them about it, and tell them how unsatisfactory your experience has been. Some incentives would be nice. The least they could do is throw you a fucking bone.
