Did you have proof of insurance when this happened?

Do you think they will care if it's out of state insurance, as long as it's insured?

Thanks TR. This is great info!

i fucking hate idiots who do that. Me and my ex were getting her a crappy car until she could afford the downpayment on something nicer, and this guy was selling a escort for like 800 bucks. And we had the cash on us, and he wouldn't let us leave if we bought it, so we just left.

I had insurance on my other cars so I did have valid proof of insurance.

+1 to the bill of sale thing. I bought my first car up in Tampa and drove it all the way back to Venice with no tag and a fart can and didnt even get pulled over, but we had the Bill O Sale so we'd be alright.

I am unclear how that works. My understanding of insurance is you had to insure cars on an individual basis, and all of your cars insurance is put into a single bill. So... if you buy a car and "have insurance" for another car... your car still isn't insured in the case of an accident.

At least that's what I thought. Am I wrong?

from my understanding, having insurance makes you an insured motorist, so if you get in an accident you're insured. additionally, i believe in your insurance policy there are provisions for a new car purchase

i got pulled over in plant city after driving to daytona to pick up my civic. I explained to the cop i just bought the car, showed him the title, gave him my license, he ran the title and my name, and after all came up clear, he said ok, just get it registered as soon as you can...and let me go. Just dont EVER, EVER drive with an unassigned tag, you can and probably will get arrested for that...
