I can't find very much info. The RAV4 is several hundred pounds heavier and is not as aerodynamic, just for starters. I found one road test for each that pegged the Camry .3s quicker and several MPH faster in the quarter on edmunds. Dragtimes has two Camrys running in the 14s range and one RAV4 in the low 15s range. I think the Camry has it.

A special version of the 1JZ-GTE equipped JZA70, the 2.5 Twin Turbo R, had black/grey Recaro seats, a Torsen differential (additional braces to mount the diff), Bilstein suspension and uprated springs, larger sway bars, Momo wheel and gear knob and matching interior trim. This was the fastest factory production version of the MK3 Supra, running a mid 14 second 1/4 mile.
huh...a "special Turbo R" variant of the Toyota Supra MK3 ONLY ran a mid 14 1/4 mile? You mean, it's just as fast as my grocery getter? Hell...a 1967 Camaro SS-350 only pulls a 15.4 1/4 mile. I'd smoke it!

in 2007/2008, 14's are a joke. In a few years, 4 door family cars will be running 13's, while getting 27.5mpg.

The only difference between the twin turbo and the "twin turbo R" is that the R stands for Recaros . Also, 7M version of the same car usually ran a 15 flat. Aaaandd one more thing...the fastest Japanese car of 1988 is the MkIII Turbo A, completely different car though. Also, not very impressive at all by todays standards

You're right though, 268 HP is a shitload for a basic car like that, and I think its great. However, the more power these new cars make and the more electronics and restrictions they run in to, the harder they will be to mod and such.

Throw a cam and the holy trinity at the Camaro and see what it runs then. Hell a full turbo back exhaust and intake on a MkIII Supra is 100 crank HP.

Camry and Rav4 only have the 2GR-FE. The 2GR-FSE is the direct injection version found in the IS350's.

I just found out yesterday that there are no direct injection Toyotas in the US, they are all port only. The DI ones are only in the Lexus', but not RX/ES

I'd rock it if it had an LSx in it.
