What about the cost of repairing the overspray?

I'm not sure what legal reproach I have for the damages beyond the amount I paid since he absolved himself of the job...

well forget whats legal for a minute, demand that he fixed everything that they messed up, including alll over spray or you will blast the name of the shop on a public forum with nearly 50,000 members, all of which are into cars. I think your nuts if you dont man. btw say the name anyways

I just don't understand why your being so cool on this. That over spray is ridiculous, how can they let that go like it is? Its hard to get people to do and complete their job!

It's going to cost u more in parts then the 100 u paid him bro .I'd take him to small claims court after trying to resolve it in person .That way u can tell the judge u tried to solve it in person but had no luck .

I think u could have gotten a better job done at freakin maco lol .

+1 go back and tell him you want your money back and you want him to fix everything.. That is totally unacceptable and I don't see why you would go back and just ask for your $100. Then have to spend double that or more to fix/replace what he fucked up.

Was this a "real" shop?

Guys, this is a prime example of the type of frustration us shop owners have to put up with. People don't understand that you honestly pay for what you get in this business, at DC, to paint that entire front clip, materials will come close to that $225.

Here's what I personally would do -
  • I would not go back, even if he gives your a good deal on something.
  • Call and request your money back
  • Demand payment for half of another shop's estimate.
  • If they won't, take them to small claims.
  • Small claims should be the very last resort, you may win, but you may never collect.

You know, there's really no such thing as a perfect paint job in my eyes, but that's a fucking hack job. I can't believe a place can be in business with that type of quality.

You can bet on #2! Let me walk you through this also:
  1. You go to court and file the paperwork
  2. You pay your filing fee - in the hundreds of $
  3. You pay sheriff to go and summon them to court
  4. You wait 2 month for the court date
  5. You go to pre-trial conference
  6. They send you to mediation
  7. You come/not to an agreement
  8. If you win, it only means your have a 'judgement' on them
  9. Judgement = not guaranty of payment
  10. You will spend time to try and collent with no luck
  11. So, the only thing you can do is put a lien on something
  12. Which will mean you will have to file more paperwork
  13. Which will mean more money towards filing fees
  14. seriously, I can keep on going, and going.

I think you got the idea.

Being hostile wont fix my car or recover any damages. Best I can do is what Ian said - try to get my vehicle repaired and learn my lesson for next time.

I looked into the small claims and it would appear you pay ~$70 to file and ~$120ish for the sheriff to deliver the summons.

I'm surprised/impressed with GCC, I expected at least one post recommending I immediately grab my glock and spray his house.
