in any case...good luck finding the shell...although if these guys are good at what they're doing they'll cut it up and turn it into a recycling yard for cash.
Awesome idea! Where can I get a boot?

or just search online...boots usually cost around 75.00. i would also consider chaining the car to a tree or a fence...which again just adds another level of security. i impound/repossess cars for a living...and can assure you this would make it much harder for a thief to steal a vehicle. if the car had a boot, they'd have to cut it off, remove the wheel or just drag it away...and each option would make a lot of noise and significantly reduce their chances of doing so without being noticed.

Good luck tho thats a nice car hope you get it back.
In the state of Florida IF you have full cvg (comprehensive and collision) on your policy, you have 7 days of overlap cvg on a newly purchased vehicle. This is in place so people who purchase vehicles on weekends or holidays and can not get a hold of their agent or company, can still take ownership of the vehicle without delay. If you only have liability or worse; just have PIP and PD cvg, then there is no extended cvg to another vehicle regardless of whether you were going to add full cvg on the new vehicle or not.

I'm an insurance broker and have been licensed in FL for 3 years and unfortunately I do see this from time to time. Younger clients who buy cars and don't have the proper cvg in place.

chaining a car to a tree is useless. all you need is some handy bolt cutters.

the right chain is very difficult to cut with most bolt cutters.

kj, there are different types of boots.

some allow access to the lug nuts...and if someone is motivated enough the lug nuts can be removed in most cases...but it requires a hammer, easy outs and a few other tools.

again, i just know what it takes to impound/repossess a vehicle and these methods make the process much more difficult. also, if you have two vehicles and enough space...i'd park one vehicle behind the other or block one vehicle in...plus i'd park the vehicle where it would be very difficult to roll...like making use of elevation changes...etc.

k... well it's a lil late for that in my car maybe they can start a SEPERATE thread for security ideas... let's try to keep this one for any information that could help with my car. Any parts for sale I know everyone goes through different avenues to find their parts.
