Shifting with no clutch??

I learned to do it when I first started driving cause the car had a terrible clutch.

I now have a new car with a perfectly good clutch... but sometimes I just don't feel like clutchin it

I don't grind the gears, it shifts smooth.... and I just put it in N and brake when stopping.

Just wanted to know if anyone else is lazy like me and does this.

Why or why not?

I drove literally a month without using the clutch since my slave cylinder died, then my master. When I would come to a stop, I'd turn it off, then leave it in first till I had to start going.

To shift, I would rev match. It felt weird actually using a clutch again once I fixed it. Occasionally I try not using it as well.

Randomly I rev-match, just to rev-match

so would you use the starter to move the car up to speed in 1st gear? what would you do to initiallyD get it moving?

Oh, I rev match regardless. Always. Both down and up-shifting, and I engine brake everywhere. There are actually a few "no engine brakes" signs around Venice...but it doesnt say "no engine braking" so I have my way with it

Yes. When the light turned green, the car would be in first, and I would start it. It would lunge forward and just be "normal" from there on out...till I had to stop again

Those " no engine brake" signs are for semis. when u "engine brake" thats down shifting. semi trucks have real engine brakes thats called a "Jake Brake" it uses compression to slow the engine. if u think u hear semis down shifting when they stop its most likely the jake brakes

so feel free to downshift all u want in venice buddy as long as ur in a car its all good.

I know what an engine brake is, how it works, and that semis use it. I believe technically its illegal to engine brake in Florida anyways with cars and such.
