Governments are always looking for fund raisers.

Politicians put pressure on Law Enforcement to
produce results/write tickets.

Speeding tickets (point and shoot) are easiest to write.
There are no devices made to detect the number 1 cause of crashes and death in Florida: Careless driving.

Two types of speeding tickets are written: Exceeding the posted speed
and "Unsafe speed". Unsafe speed has a higher number of deaths related to it. CARE TO MAKE A GUESS AS TO WHICH IS MOST OFTEN WRITTEN?
1/3 million posted speed tickets...........NO other category is anywhere close to that!

Live long enough and you realize that most of what government tells you is untrue...............-Bob

Default Timing Of Yellow Lights/longer Reds

The way to stop red light runners is to increase the length of warning (yellow) and decrease the length of red lights.

We SHOULD have "red light on demand" when a person pulls up to the intersection, instead of "red for no reason" as we have in some Tampa locations.
If we ever get serious about saving energy (regardless of what Al Gore
SAYS) If we get serious, you will not be sitting at a red light when most of that red light duration, no cross traffic is present.

The reason yellow light timing should vary is that it takes more time/warning/distance to clear the intersection at 45mph than it takes at 35mph, depending on the number of lanes a person has to cross..............
and at one time in Tampa timing was set that way.
-------------------------------------------------------
I can show you the math related to varying yellow light length.

I can also show you a history of red light timing related to revenue raising
that began years ago.-Bob

Less tickets mean more compliance, but less tickets do not demonstrate that law enforcement is "doing something".

Embarrass the cop by breaking the law in front of him, in front of witnesses, and the cop is obligated to "do something about it".

In truth, if you run enough yellows, you probably WILL run a red, and he warned your bro that he should not keep doing that............
Count your blessings! Compared to 1.a crash or 2. a ticket (right or wrong) your bro did OK.-Bob

the damn pig had the nerve to pull him over and write him a warning for that.....................
