Probably, but still..
I hate all this V6 bullshit every manufacturer but BMW is doing. V6 is the WORST design from an engineering point of view...unbalanced, heavy, awkward (ESPECIALLY transversely mounted), balance shafts REQUIRED...fuck that. Want to cut down on NVH? Stop using fuckin V6s and go back to the superior I6.
"But its too long!"
Bullshit, use a design like Toyota's 1G-GTE...75mm/75mm bore/stroke (identical to the 2000GT btw). Give it an S/C and/or a turbo. Smaller displacement, use boost to replace displacement, worry less about gas mileage.

Funny but if you talk to any of the hardcore Nissan builders the VQ series engines are a superior to flagship RB motors of yester-year. Vinny Ten swears by them and he's been building and racing Supras since the beginning. And if I'm not mistaken the new Skyline dumped the straight six for a what... VQ?? wow they may know something after all. I loved my RB25 however cast iron block versus aluminum...VQ definitely not heavy and smooth as glass (balanced) Can't speak for every manufacture however. I think when Mits. took the
4G63 out of the Eclipse in favor of a V6 they lost a ton of people. To each his own though!

I know that the VQ is light, being all aluminum. I know that aluminum is a superior choice for a block; I'm sold on it. What I dont agree with is having to sleeve open deck blocks to get more power out of. Also the VQ has almost a liter on the RBs; thats like going from a 2JZ to a 1UZ Lexus V8.
I6s dont need balance shafts. Take them out of a V6 and you have a shaky lump thats missing two cylinders at least. Also, compare working on a V6 with an I6. Waaay different. Thats much of why BMWs are so easy to work on; they came with the right engine

I'm sure the new VQ in the Skyline is built for boost. The G35 and 350z's were not however but I bet they will soon.. BMW with SMG FTW!!

Ooops, which ever it is, its a V. Not inline sizix.
P.S. Quote "The engine is the product of further development of the widely successful VQ engine series"
