Heat reduces the power output of electric motors

 

there might also be an internal thermal switch on the motor.

im going through the same damn thing as we speak but on a horizontal band saw at our shop. when the motor temp reaches a certain point, it throws it.

just a guess.

 

Also, the heat might expand the rubber moldings and cause a tighter fit
