I like it. Come on, if car designers based their models on the opinions of people on this site, every car would look like an 88 civic hatchback. Times change

hahah. We'll all just have to wait and see what this car is really made of, and then we can pass judgment. To be honest, yes the loss of the 4g63 is sad, but its about time they moved on, it cant be cutting edge forever. What more could they really do to it to improve on the 4g from the evo ix? would it be enough to get ppl to sell their evo's and buy the new one? would it be anything that the aftermarket doesnt already offer?

you know, I kinda hope the Evo doesn't have the same power potential as the outgoing model. Too many people are buying them in hopes of hitting 4 digit power numbers and completely ignoring the other aspects of the car that make the Evo so damn special. And it wouldn't surprise me either, as the new STi also has made some changes that will make high hp production more difficult than the current model.

I dont think id want to make 4 digit horsepower in the new one. That looks like one expensive drivetrain to break

Uhhh...everything they did for the 4B11T

They could've added variable exhaust phasing, variable lift cams, direct injection, made it an aluminum block, reverse flow coolant, mount it longitudinally, made it non-interference, made the water pump run off of the accessory belt instead, variable nozzle ball bearing free floating turbo...etc.

See? The best 4 cylinder out there COULD still get better!

As far as aluminum being a bad choice because Honda's dont take boost well....well they were never meant to take any power. Any engine that needs to be sleeved for extra power isnt worth the time or effort in my book and flat out sucks.

you're telling me that redesigning an engine that was conceived in 1989 to 2008 specs is easier than designing an entirely new engine, using modern design techniques, and methods of production? Thats the equivalent of giving your boy a sex change operation instead of having another child b/c you wanted a girl. Not only is it more expensive, but its unpredictable what the end result will be with the redesign.

The 4g63 was great. The 302 was great. They are both dead.
