Don't forget the licensing, zoning and environmental issues that are the #1 reason for putting a stop on a guy trying to start his own business.

are there still emission rules in florida.... and when i say modded i dont mean like nasty body kits and wack swaps.... im talking bout simple rims and maybe set up like pkgs that come when you buy the car that will cost different as the pkgs go to the higher numbers.... like one can have a pkg of rims, lowering springs and exhaust @ the low end and at the high end the works paint job, swap, turbo, rims, lowering springs, struts, exhaust seats... i mean that is what i would like to do so it is totally to the customer's discretion..... brandenton??? how is the racing scene over there???

Go surf the Honda/Nissan/Toyota forums on this site...

...You want that to be the client base you specialize in?

I think its a bad idea to just say, "I want to work on rice rockets". Most of your customers would be kids, many of who are dishonest little punks. At least to start out, Id' say work on anything you can get in the doors. One die hard car enthusiast, reguardless of what he drives, is worth more than 10 20-year-old rico suave ricers if you can get them to use your shop for all their car needs. I've seen it happen at mechanics' shops, sometimes even 5 or 10 cars from the same person being worked on. Its hard to get that kinda loyalty with the client base you're selecting.

And for the love of god, invest in good security. These punks are stealing the parts right out of performance shops these days.

I dont think there is much of a demand for modified cars. There is a reason why people generally part out their hard work instead of selling it for practically nothing over stock.
