I looked mine up, It's issued out of Tama, Tokyo and the class 79 is for a passenger car. so it's legit.

Not only is an authentic JDM mounting holes spaced wider apart than an American plate, but if you look closely on the back, there is a Japanese symbol with a dash and then a number in the upper righthand corner... well thats what mine has atleast.
