I love the way it looks, or I can goto Canada and buy the Acura CSX for 25K and add the same mods.

The new Civic Type RR with a time attack by Honda of 1 minutes and 6.68 seconds sits firmly between number 24 and 25.
Beating the Supra, Ferrari 360, R33 GT-R, Lotus Elise, and the BMW M3.

Shit it kicks my cars ass by almost 3 seconds!

Not impressive at all /sarcasm .. *sigh* any car enthusiast can see what I'm trying to say, this car is definitely respectable, by all definition.

Theres not much to be respected about 240 HP and 160 ft lbs...the chassis is just too heavy to have that little power. Cut off 700 lbs and yeah it would be pretty damn cool, but still wrong wheel drive and still low on low end power.

Dont get me wrong, I actually like the looks of it and everything, even the engine looks nicely done. Its just that if Honda's VTEC was really "the shit", they would have one cam profile be for low end and the other for top end, not one for top end and the other for even higher top end..

Here's what someone could have INSTEAD: Evo IX MR w/factory overpriced front and rear strut tower bars, front corner air dams, and another waste of money the 'hyperground cables'; BMW's 335i or even the upcoming 135i; Shelby GT; STi FULLY loaded; fully loaded Mazdaspeed 6 or 3, slightly used Elise, fully loaded Saab 9-3 Aero, fully loaded Sky RedLine, 350Z "Grand Touring" with money to spare, etc. etc. the list goes on

The already-impressive R gets the full once-over from Mugen, and the result is the Honda Civic Mugen RR. Designed to be perhaps the ultimate front-engined/front-wheel-drive performance car, the Mugen RR sheds an additional 10kg (22 lbs) off the standard Civic Type R's weight, coming in at 2733 lbs. In addition to the weight loss, the freer-breathing Mugen RR picks up 15 horsepower over the regular Type R. It's rated at 240 horses at 8,000 rpm and 160 lb-ft at 7,000 rpm.

Complementing the added power and and decreased weight are a new bodykit, upgraded brakes all around, a retuned suspension, new wheels and tires, and logo-emblazoned Recaro sport buckets. Availability is limited to 300 cars, all in the Milan Red finish shown, and the pricing in Japan has been set at ¥4,777,500 ($38,750 USD).

Mugen's official website has a video of the car lapping Japan's Tsukuba circuit, which is worth a look if you're interested in seeing it in action.

Really? Because all of those cars that you could have "instead" (JDM only) are SLOWER around a track, which must say something about their heavy and underpowered chassis. Are you not reading the facts or are you biased? Either way it doesn't matter what you think I thought you should just have a chance to look at where the Civic RR actually stands against other cars.

i dont see what the problem is you all hating because it a FWD! Why is that too much for you? Track times speak for itself and as much as you hate this FWD 4 banger just owned alot of RWDs!!!

Cant wait to see it in a Tsukuba battle vs the new S2000 CR!
Track tuned cars you can purchase off a dealership show room!

LMAO 1st of all where the hell did "JDM only" come from, just because we're not getting the Civic RR, or at least "yet"?

Heavy and underpowered chassis? Thats funny, the only one I listed with less power was the Elise, which is funny, since its 730+ lbs lighter..not to mention the Evo is much higher on the listand 400-500 lbs heavier than your beloved Civic. Most of the other cars I listed as well are around the same area, but have plenty more power, anywhere from 40-60 easily.

Your link is the only one that claims this car is that fast. I highly highly highly doubt it is, concidering that ANYONE can just add their own lap time to the list. If you look on the lists, the Civic RR isnt even listed yet, so it is unconfirmed and unreliable at best!

Am I biased? Yes, very much so. I've yet to see more than a few Hondas that have been "fast" or lived up to expectations. Even when I drop my expectations and hope that I can be wrong and Honda can have something impressive, it has less than I had hoped for and I overestimate them. Out of all the cars out there, they sound the worse by far, they have the lowest torque, the least usuable powerband, the most stolen, the most broken in to, most obnoxious and just all around slowest you can get..I want to see this car pushed to its limits AS IS as well as all of the cars I have mentioned.

I dont mean some quotes and "well I know a dude with a swap that blah blah blah", I want some hard evidence. Dyno sheets, verified 0-60 times, verified skid pad g's, lane change mph, whatever you can get that really is hard evidence. Last I checked the MkV GTi beat the Civic Si in a comparison, even before bolt-ons. How much more power can this Civic RR really get out of an intake, exhaust, tune, etc.? Because with just those mods, many of the cars I listed can double their gain they already had on the RR..

As far as FWD, I hate it for many reasons. It practically eliminates all advantages inline engines have over V engines as far as being easy to work on, they tend to understeer too much, you cant slide the ass end out without flatspotting the tires or wearing out your e-brake, they have torque steer and far less traction than their RWD/AWD counterparts, the weight distribution is dismal at best, drivetrains tend to be weaker, theres less room for a turbo and other bolt ons, many times the turbo would be either a pain in the ass to get to or is rediculously close to the radiator, etc. etc. the list goes on. There are more things than track times to a car anyways; and in many cases a RWD car will benefit far more than a FWD car for fun factor.

The Civic RR is only being released in Asia. We are already getting the limited production Mugen Si here. No one here will be getting it, so arguing about "what you could get instead" is pointless. I am merely pointing out its competence as a highly tuned track car able to beat seemingly faster competitors.

The Elise is half a second slower than the Civic around Tsukuba. Yes, the evo is proven to be faster around this track. You also correct in saying that those other cars may be around the same area. You are actually complimenting the Civic by comparing them. The superior suspension closes the gap so closely, I don't see how your point of view holds when you dislike a car that can give a Grand Touring 350Z a run for its money? As well as "the list goes on"..

The RR isn't listed yet? unconfirmed? The video of said lap is right here
–³ŒÀ | MUGEN RR

I have assembled two different sources for lap times around Tsukuba. All of the origninal sources are from Best Motoring.
"Best Motoring is the most established car video magazine in Japan which offers various tests and battles, ie; serious race track duels by the Best Motoring reviewers, all of whom are or were top professional racing drivers in Japan." - from their site.

Yet you named the FWD Mazdaspeed 3 as a viable alternative? Look, a lot of your other blather is pretty accurate, I agree with a lot of what you say, but there's no need to turn a blind eye to what looks to be dismal numbers, but actually turns out to return some remarkable lap times. The Mugen Civic RR is a purpose built car, I would suspect that the RR stands for Road Racing, which it seems to do blisteringly well. Is there anything else to say? Who the hell am I kidding, this is the internet, its still just a Civic!
