That's what I'm thinking. I doubt Carmax would risk their reputation on something as serious as that, now as for some mom & pop speedshop...hmm... They returned the Z28 badges and looks like they reupholestered the driver's seat.

I certainly wouldn't wanna suggest to anyone to pretend to be a buyer, find out where the car is located then vandlize it some late night. Maybe paint something like "Do not buy!!! This car actually has 166,000 miles on it."

Was the car over 10 years old? If so the car may have been titled miles exempt and possibly the gauge cluster switched. Even if it wasnt switched, a miles exempt car no longer has to be sold announcing actual miles. Shady? probably, illegal? probably not

I think $1700 was a fair deal, the car (1997 Z28 ) had 166,669 miles, A/C needed a grand worth of work to fix and the clutch chattered. That car was in "fair" condition and only blue books at $2500.
