I usually test something to see what it does before criticising it.
With some cars it will affect the aerodynamics and the air flow over the car...........................or it might just be a show-car item.-Bob

Actually the vertical sides on wings funnel air over the wing increasing its effectiveness, making the wing act like it is bigger.
