never have i delt with a retard like this...

i was workin on my moms car, shes been bitchin bout her blinkers not working for a week or two now so i finally had the time to go out and get a relay and switch em out for her.. sounds simple enough, right?


well i call up advance to see if they have the relay in stock, they tell me the computer shows that the car doesnt have a relay... i respond with "well, i just ripped out the stock one" the guy asks me for the number so he can cross reference... i give it to him, and still he says theres no such part and i must have pulled off the wrong thing...

this amused me, so i called autozone, as soon as i asked if it was in stock, the guy says , yup 12.99

+1, i went to discount auto (same company) for brake fluid (used for manual transmissions) becuase my tranny fluid was low. they told me they dont sell what I need, and hydraulic brake fluid will burn out my trans even though thats what you use. Autozone FTW

 

i think there all idiots, i go to advanced because the main store is right around the corner and they almost always have what i need in stock, but there cust, service is TERRIBLE

 

yeah ive had a lot of problems with them they gave the wrong axles at least 3 times, called napa got the right ones on the first try.

.... I nearly pooped my pants when I read this.... Your tranny fluid was low so you tried to fill it with brake fluid? I agree with the Discount associate on this one. I'm pretty sure no brake fluid of any kind goes into a manual transmission. What you probably mean is you wanted brake fluid for your CLUTCH system. So in this case +1 for Advance/Discount Auto Parts associates for helping you to not destroy your tranny....

 

I hate calling other stores asking if they have parts for my customers and get the morons that are like "huh? whats that?"

some stores u get people that are like u said..randomly hired because they need a job..

or the people at my store who each and every person knows about cars, each knowing more about a particular brand than the other, some people dont even know the difference between carb and FI

on a side not i had a pretty sweet AE86 come into work today..twas very nice

 

AutoZone seems to carry more parts then Advance they also seem to have better prices. I usually call both to see how much parts are then make my decision. Although Discount is close to my house, on my way home from work I pass AutoZone so thats usually when I stop. I have a 50/50 chance getting the right part at Advance... most of the time I get the wrong part. Their system says this is the part number, they sell me that part and its not near as close as the one I pull off the car. In those cases I need to take my cellphone out take a picture of both parts and show them it does not work.
