Default STAB is coming

Nothing like taking the "sport" out of sport cars.

Not to mention the prediction these "mother-types" are making are so far off it's laughable.

FOXNews.com - Mandate: Anti-Rollover for U.S. Vehicles - Business And Money | Business News | Financial News

The government said Thursday it would require all new passenger vehicles to have anti-rollover technology by the 2012 model year, predicting it could save thousands of lives and dramatically reduce rollover crashes.

1.Rollovers are not a major cause of crashes and death.......government is looking for a way to justify their job.........and of course to regulate/control you some more. Governing people is controlling people.

2. It is the nature of organizations to expand, and the nature of governments to govern/control......and charge you appropriately.

3. Which party benefits by making people poorer? Which party always says they will give something to those people? Which party did you vote for last time?............the party that de-regulates, or the party that increasingly regulates?

4. If you brought this upon yourself, it looks like you got who/what you voted for................not you personally, Chuck, but people in general.
And no vote at all, is actually a vote for the party that will hurt you.-Bob

Default ON the bright side..........

Now......."anti-rollover technology" MIGHT be interpreted as
lower springs, anti-sway bars, and better shocks.

........and people on this site probably ALL prefer a car that corners better. That's a reason people keep contacting me to lower and align their cars.-Bob

It never works out for the consumer when the fed's force automakers to have this technology within a set time period. I mean it's not like adding a center high mounted stop lamp. The article even states that 40% of all SUV's (most likely to rollover) sold now have this option available on them.

Next they will roll back the interstate speed limit.

I've heard that some auto manufacturers (ahem GM) spend millions lobbying Washington to mandate technologies they (cough, cough, GM) already have in place forcing the competition to scramble and invest in the new commie..., I mean government mandates.

Dunno if that's the case here or not.

i think thats bogus .. we all know the best way to save at least 3 or 4 lives a year is to shoot street racers on site. All this safety stuff and trying to reduce drunk driving is just a diversion from the real problem, street racers.

We should punish street racers' families as well, because they reared such dangers to society so they must be dangerous themselves.

Goddamn street racers. Did you know that a person dies from street racing every 5 minutes? You heard it here, first!

Agreed. Street racing is the #1 worst offense anyone can commit. They should offer the death penalty for street racers who are caught, because everyone knows those 5-6 deaths a year from street-racing are a really large and apparent problem. Forget the drunk drivers, soccer moms, cell phone multitaskers, and mini-van speeders which kill many thousands per year. A modified car is a much larger threat than any of these examples. Any modified vehicles should be stereotyped as a street racing, pulled over, driver arrested, and car impounded as soon as they are sighted by police. Hey, it's only preventive measures right. This is the way we will stop street racers, because according to statistical information, and media bright-heads, the problem is spiraling out of control.

LOL As much as I appreciate the street racing vs. drunk driving comparison I prefer to keep this on topic regarding the laughable claims that STAB is actually going to save 10,000 lives annually.

Seat belts - yes, no doubt they save lives.
Crush zones - yes, no doubt they save lives.

But STAB, ABS, TC, etc in a sports car? I'll say it again, what fun is a sports car when the "sport" part is eliminated?
