Seat belts - yes, no doubt they save lives.
Crush zones - yes, no doubt they save lives.

But STAB, ABS, TC, etc in a sports car? I'll say it again, what fun is a sports car when the "sport" part is eliminated?
It turns into that little v8 convertable Jaguar...I forget the model number, but it fucking sucks...

theres "sporty cars" and then there are sports cars

i have a "sporty car" but it doesn't have any driver aids aside from power steering and i love it, no TCS no ABS no nothin, and the accident i got in was minor and resulted in my poor judgement, but i've been in cars with ABS and TCS and all that, and it still plowed into some dumb bitch

i think its retarded but at the same time doesn't apply to me, i don't plan on buying any new car anytime in the future, and if i ever do...i hope Ferrari gives this mandate the finger

Pfft, that Jag is for guys who cruise around with their boyfriends in the passenger seat. I seriously thought it was bogging until about 40MPH until I realized that was their way of keeping some rich yuppie who can't drive worth of shit on the road with a v8....And around turns...? Forget it! It didn't even feel like I had control of the car. The fucking thing drove itself around turns! Very dissapointing.

Yep, giving all cars ESC, ABS, TC, and AIDS is really going to help people pay less attention when they drive.

By god, I have an idea, how about they make driving while on the cell phone illegal, so when something happens in front of the driver, they are actually paying attention.

edit: You know what, heres a better idea, lets just ban SUV's. I mean, since we're just being rational, and forcing stupid ideas on carmakers who are trying to keep costs down to attract customers. Lets get rid of SUV's. All they do is attract incompetant people to drive them, and what again is their actual use? I don't think I've seen any of them actually offroad. Ever.
Not to mention how if your big ass SUV hits my tiny little fuel efficient car, I'll certainly NOT die, I mean honestly, how could I, I have ES FUCKING C!

i cant wait to buy cars with SARS (stable anti-rollover system) or AIDS (auto-intelligent driving system).

so yeah it sucks. did it say it was required on all cars, or just cars like trucks and SUVs, which have higher rollerover rates? i guess i like middle tech cars better (80s and 90s), before they got cluttered with bullshit.

and people wonder why no one can drive anymore, dependency on all this crap.

how about they do something functional and require all cars to have built in bluetooth or some form of handless speakerphone system, so people will stop driving around with a phone stuck in their ear and a tire riding the white line.

As long as they give you an "off" switch it's not so bad but they almost never do. Some of these systems massively infringe on your ability to drive a car aggressively, in a straight line or around corners. A lot of the latest Benzes have had systems so aggressive all the mags said they felt they hurt the skidpad and slalom times by several mph/cornering G. Toyota is bad, too, with overly aggressive systems you can't turn off. I will never buy a car that prevents me from driving it the way I want to.
