I know that I have faster reactions with an auto, and handling in the turns is not related to type of transmission. I believe this to be true, since I specialize in making cars stick to the road in the turns.
John, how about we RENT identical cars, one with auto and one with
manual trans, to eliminate the horsepower factor, and then we do a scientific experiment?

^ That, and none of these people who tlak about being able to keep track of what gear your manual is in have ever driven a good triptronic or manual valve body Auto. Theres a reason manuals are a dying breed. While they may be fun, they're no match for an automatic.

I could spend the money for a custom M5 swap and then break it (From too much torque yo!) or I could spend the same amount of money to build a bullet proof A4. I'll pick my slushbox.
With some tunning of shift points, line pressures and a good shift kit an auto is great for straight lines. A manual transmission is by far more fun to drive but don't get mad when I pass you while you're grinding gears.

But yeah, I have just as much respect for an Auto as I do a Manual.. Dosn't make any difference, a faster car is a faster car.
