potential power with a honda? sounds a bit like an oxymoron to me... why people waste money modding these 15/16 second cars is beyond me. but i guess im just sick of being revved at by these lawnmower powered pieces of shit.

Now I realized why I don't post on TR, because of all the Honda bashing, because I've never seen domestic or Subaru drivers acting like jackasses before...
I own a Honda and a Ford and I don't act like a jackass, I don't rev at everything on the road, in fact I drive like a normal person, and yes I do mod my Honda, its not the fastest thing out there but I enjoy it, if I want to go fast on the track I'd drive my Mustang around.
But anyways...
Who knows why someone turbos a Scion xB, its a box with no aerodynamics and it makes like 100HP from the factory and probably like 125 boosted but it gets great gas mileage and people like to slam them on 16" wheels with retarded offsets.

i agree, but i think the reason is really a $money$ issue. 99.9% of those kids would love to have a WRX if they could afford one. the people you are talking about are swapping $200-$300 motors, that someone else took out of their car to do a $3000-$5000 swap. there are different levels of income, skill, and desire in every automotive group.

You're just supposed to talk up whatever you do know as if you're a salesman for it. i.e. I drive a Supra and a Corolla therefore 2JZ is the greatest and so is the 4A and I don't care about anything else because it's all crap since I don't have it. I also have a stack of $20 bills in front of me, therefore 20>50 and 20>100 and 20>1000. $20 bill FTW.

to give you an example, with a SOHC motor, the most you can get out of is around the 300whp range. but with a DOHC motor, there have been people on this site who have taken them over 800WHP and ran 8's in the 1/4 mile at NOPI(colin's CRX). there is even a 750whp civic in the for-sale forum right now, who has beat some of the fastest domestics in tampa, before it became a track-only car.
