i agree, but i think the reason is really a $money$ issue. 99.9% of those kids would love to have a WRX if they could afford one. the people you are talking about are swapping $200-$300 motors, that someone else took out of their car to do a $3000-$5000 swap. there are different levels of income, skill, and desire in every automotive group.

People have done everything under the sun to Hondas- I'm sure there are single cams pushing more than 300 whp. Not in stock form or not for long if they are. But no B-series will push 700 whp in stock form either.
Turbo toaster- why not? Somebody buys a car that they like for whatever reason, then they feel like tweaking it. They see an ad for some highly overpriced turbo kit in a magazine, look up a speed shop in the yellow pages and go drop 5 grand on "up to 30 percent more power" or in this case, 25 hp at the wheels.

take it from a guy that had a car like that that nobody liked .. its a personal choice not everyones into hondas or the big three's v8"s !! my idea has always beenif theres performance parts for it there must be a following because no company is going to waste there time on a car with no following .
