The Sherman's while offering the protection of a 20 year old condom sitting under heat lamps when hit with a shell, were far more reliable and numerous that the extremely over complicated Panzers of the Waffen-SS and Wehrmacht. Although a Panzer could punch through a Sherman like like tin foil, and have the Sherman's shells bounce off them.
