Default free windshield from insurance??

ok, i heard today that if you have insurance and your windsheild is cracked, they will replace because of saftly regulations.

what i dont know is, do you need to have full coverage ?? or will the lowest insurance coverage cover the damage ??

funny u mention this fc_v8 as i just heard someone tell me this weekend that (and i do not promote this behavior, just passing on the information, you do what you want with it), in order to get your windshield replaced for free: get full coverage and then within that time frame, "accidentally" damage your windshield and supposedly they will replace it asap.

to be verified... as i need to replace mine asap!

these guys seem pretty sure about it being full coverage, but i was always under the impression that it was a Florida law that insurance companies must replace broken or cracked windows, but only if the crack/break is of a certain size....

i will check on it.

Broken windshields are typically covered under the comprehensive coverage portion of a car insurance policy. Some states allow for the normal deductible to be waived for windshield replacements. Florida is one of these states, according to FL Statue 627.7288 the deductible shall not apply to windshield damages.

The answer then is no, you should not have to pay the deductible for the comprehensive coverage used to fix the windshield. If your insurance company requests you to pay the deductible, state this Statue or contact the Florida Department of Financial Services. You would have to pay for the damage if you don't have physical damage coverage.

I live in Florida and have a broken windshield that is n...?

Yea you don't need full coverage do get it fixed just drive up there with your car and say while you were out on the road today that a rock must of hit it and ruined it or make something up...I think that it must happen while you are moving for it to be fixed but I do know that they WILL fix it at zero cost.

if there is a small rock crack just drive down a highway one day.. find a dump truck.. make a note of the time, direction, license number, date... call insurance and tell them a rock kicked up from the truck and cracked your window... should be covered by your insurance or the trucks insurance
