Default my friend is dum

ok, my buddy is cool and all and hilarious to hang out with but i gotta vent about him. he's got an old ass nissan truck thats got a carbed single cam ka. when he found out what kind of motor it was the ideas started coming out. dual cam ka swap, ka-t swap, sr20, you know the usual "well it would be badass if we....." talk. so me being the muscle car freak i am, suggested a small block chevy with a 4 barrel and big ass blower on it. to this he replied "one i don't like american stuff, and i prefer boost." to which i laughed my ass off because not 15 seconds before he was saying he wanted his truck to go fast on the cheap.

now at this point i thought about the first half of his statement, my suggestion would cost at most 5-7g's fully built, blueprinted, the works, if you found the right parts and you'd be getting at least 550hp if not more. his suggestion, (an sr20) on a similar build up would run 7-10g's is my guess and you'd still top out at like 450-500hp(also a guess).
i'm not bashing japanese stuff, i wouldn't mind puttin an sr in my s13, but he wanted to go fast on the cheap.

the second parts of his statement just told me he thinks he know more about cars then he actually does. turbos and superchagers both produce boost DUH!!! just cause they do it in differnat ways doesn't mean one is better then the other. and it definately doesn't meen that you should completely rule out using one of the two. that part just really made me laugh

thanks for listening to my vent, like i said i'm not bashing anything or one, i just needed to get it off my mind

well everyone has fantasies. Let him think what he wants to think, just tell him to tell you all about it when he has the money to do it.

shows how much i know about em, but i look at it like this, junkyard 350=$100, full rebuild kit=$300. thats more horsepower, and its 1500 less then a stock sr thats got some milage. but its his truck, whatever floats his boat.

it would be badass to see a nice swap get thrown in it though

but then factor in engine/trans mounts, probably custom or modified crossmember, custom driveshaft, stronger rear end to handle the power...it adds up.

A carbed 350 would be shitloads cheaper than an SR swap, by a long shot.
