Floor jack prices?
I've been looking over some sears floor jacks and they're going from $17 to $500... are the cheap ones safe to use? Anywhere else to get jacks?

Harbor Freight has nice aluminum floor jacks in the $100 range...
I have the smaller one that I bought for my Civic, paid $79 I think. Works well, and lifts my Eldorado and my sisters Grand Prix with no problems.

As long as it doesnt snap and i have to deal with the car crashing down on top of me, i'm fine with paying 20 bucks for a car jack.

Those small jacks are fine for lifting 1 corner of the vehicle to change a tire, but I wouldnt trust them to hold up the car for an extended period of time and I would never trust being under a vehicle supported by one.
I bought one that would lift the front or back wheels at the same time. Jack stand are a must if you are going to be under the vehicle at all, but make sure to buy some that will support your vehicle weight. I have seen the smaller one buckle under the weight of an 80's Box Chevy. Left it up on stands overnight, came out in the morning to find the drivers side on the ground.

yeah, no matter the jack, they can ALL buckle, its a safety precaution
you could get a $1,000 jack, and if its hydraulic(they all are), there is a chance it will fail, so no matter what, if your under the car, put the solid, 4 corner jack stands under em
so the only difference in price is the quality its made with, and how long it will last, or the warrenty on it, buy a Craftsman, and if it fails, you get a new one free
