yeah, but when that happens, its going to cause more damage to the car without the bumper reinforcement, not you.

My car's body is all stock, but I do have an HKS exhaust. It's not a huge can and it's not really loud, though. That and the fact that I'm a calm driver are probably why I've never had a ticket.

(knock on wood)

I do want some of those LED windshield sqirters pretty bad, though. Cops don't care about those, do they?

I'll be okay, right?

RIGHT?!

Where are you guys getting that JDM bumpers = fiberglass? I thought crappy body kits = fiberglass? JDM is mainly just slightly different-looking factory bumpers?

Damn. My lame ass USDM car. I know nothing.

most aftermarket bumpers are made of fiberglass or poly reinforced FG. I think he may have been referring to jdm "style" bumpers

So they have absolutely nothing to do with crash safety/impact zones? I was in the understanding that they help protect people in accidents. Not in and of themselves, but in combination with other safety features built into the car.

bumpers distribute impact into the frame rails, and above 5 mph, tie the frame rails together. In a head on crash without them, the frame rails can split open on some cars. This actually helps absorb the impact better, so it would in theory save you some whiplash effects. The biggest safety feature that would affect you in an accident are the ones that are equipped on your vehicle. If their car crumples more than yours, thats all the better for you.
