Default Acceleration = rattling?

Hey all,
I have a 2005 Hyundai Accent GT (manual) that rattles obnoxiously
during acceleration. Once cruising/shifting rpms are reached, it
disappears. It sounds like it is coming from outside the cab (under the
hood maybe), but I have not once heard the sound while listening with
the hood up and manually revving the engine using the throttle cam.
This makes me think it may have something to do with the transmission,
because as soon as I get in and drive off, its there again. Any thoughts?

I know, get a better car, but you try on a grad student's budget!

Peace,
Chris

my guess is its just something loose either in the engine bay or behind the dash. with that shady ass build quality i wouldnt be suprised.

Check your VTEC fluid. Alot of times if it isn't topped off it can cause rattling, loss of power, and eventually engine failure. We had this problem on Roadrage's Cobra, but we got to it in time before his D16Z6 swap blew up.

Could it be valve noise? If it was engine related I should be hearing it all the time right? Could it be the muffler or drivetrain related if I'm only hearing it during actual physical acceleration?
