Default warped rotors..

Ok, I am going to take my rotor off.. What do you check for if it is warped? What will make the wheels shake?

The two surfaces are supposed to be parallel and flat right? Within what tolerance is acceptable?

.005"? or what?

Let me know!

Usually you check rotor runout on the car and spin the rotor with a dial indicator attatched to it and measure the differences.

That being said, if you feel the brakes pulsate, then its too much lol

thanks, soo how much total runout should I look for? So jus spin? But how am I supposed to do that with the tires off if the brake caliper holds it in while the tire is off?

Take off the pads and caliper. Total runout shouldnt be more than .005" I think, I dunno an exact number, but the less the better.

Excess run-out causes wobble or pounding. In the middle of the pad
wear area, if it exceeds .004 inches, replace or refinish the disc.
-----------
To check Disc parallelism, measure disc thickness with a micrometer in 8 different equally spaced places.........about 45 degrees apart. If measurements vary by more than .0006 inches, replace them
............not that much more costly than machining them down.-Bob

Just brakes is a rip off. Do not go there for any type of analysis on your car. Only go there if you specifically tell them you want something done.
