Yet another SKYRINE Thread... **PICS INSIDE**
There is no car that you can buy for 30k brand new and drop an engine/drivetrain into it and make it a Porsche 997 or a Corvette.

And, I can't believe how many Evo and WRX mentions are in this thread, people actually think these cars are sportscars even in the same universe as any of the cars in discussion here?

well...after reading through all the OMG SKYRHINE jokes....i noticed one major thing
someone said that the "new supra tt" (if one ever does come out) will be priced around 45k. allow me to laugh at you. numerous times, because you my friend, are a retard.

I agree that the price is high but thats only because I don't have the money, unlike the many ppl out there that do. The GTR is $70k and is made to compete with the Z06 and 911's plus any other car in that range. For what the car is thats around the right price. The Audi RS4 is also AWD and around 440hp and it sell as a base model for $66k.
The R32 was the 1st car to do under 8min at the Nurburgring and now this one does it in 7:30's. Not even the 911's can do that and I don't see a Z06 doing that. Don't get me wrong I like the new C6 Z06 but I think the GTR can and will out do the vette. Would I buy it? No, I rather have an Evo or STI for cheaper or If I had the money I would get the RS4. But I beleive it will do well. Mainly cause of the hype of it being a Skyline you can buy in the states.

I hate to bring this into the discussion, but as much as I love the C6 Z06 for its performance it does lack in other areas. I sat in a Z06 and a Civic Si at the car show and in many ways the Civic was a nicer car inside. It's pretty sad that a 20k dollar economy car has nicer fit and finish and nicer materials used in the interior than a 65k dollar sports car. My friends actually forced me to sit in both because I was going on about how cool the Z06 was and they wanted to take me down a peg, and I had to admit that the Z06 was actually inferior to a Civic in at least one aspect.
As much as we throw numbers around on the internet, just have to remember that there's more to a car than numbers.

This car isn't aimed at people who want the most power for their money. It's aimed at people who want something different and exclusive, not just fast.
Say what you like about the looks--there's no accounting for taste--but the mechanical ability is there, no doubt.
It's nothing new that some people like domestics better and vice-versa, but like it or not, the market for this car is there and they will sell. I'm almost 30 and spent tons of time as a kid reading car magazines and getting all jazzed about machines I couldn't afford. Now people in my group are (almost) all grown up. There are people older than me who've been Nissan/Datsun freaks forever, also. I don't think they'll have too hard a time selling.
