exactly, noise differing from factory, nowhere does it state that it can't be modified from the factory, just that it can't produce more noise then it did when it rolled off the factory floor

PROVE IT!!

Don't get me wrong, I hate fart-cans, but saying modified in ANY way is ridiculous.

Is there a statue of limitations on those TotalChaos? IE: Cars older than suchandsuch are exempt? I'd hate for my stock exhaust system to rust out and have it replaced w/ a NON-OEM setup and get pulled over for that.

Not that it would ever happen on my car, but it happens to others.
happened to me, and i wasn't going to pay 2X the price and install it myself versus half price, larger piping, mandrel bend and a better flowing muffler, but it isn't a fart pipe by any means

Wouldn't that be the cats? Not the mufflers?

no, your exhaust is considered emissions system, not running a catalytic converter is a different part, but if you don't run a cat but it isn't louder than normal, what are they going to say, and really, how are they going to find it?

My exhaust will have a Ford part number so I will love to fight one of these if I get one.

Hehe.. funny part is.. all parts of my exhaust (except the pipes themselves) have a CARB #... so I'm legal in California (as long as they don't notice the big snail looking object, anyways) but not in Florida

That's just sad.
