What Car Insurance do you have & kind?
I have Drive from Progressive. I carry the minimal "full coverage" plus Bodily Injury. I don't remember the price.
I can say that what they say about Progressive coming to the crash scene is 100% true. Or if you don't call them from the scene, they'll come where ever the car is to see it. (they came to my work)
Do NOT call Geico. They are very expensive for young people. AND they're a PITA. You don't get an "agent." You never talk to the same person twice. And, when I was a minor, I was supposedly added to my mom's policy as a secondary driver. Our rates shot up, of course, so it was obvious that I had been added. Well...when I got in a wreck, nowhere in the paperwork was I listed as a driver. They fucked us over on that one. Luckily, because my dad cosigned on the loan, his insurance (Progressive) picked up. (this was complicated b/c of it was a new car, purchased 3 weeks prior, so my "old" insurance should have been paying it b/c I hadn't gotten a new policy yet.
Way too much info, I'm sure, but Progressive is a GOOD company and Geico sucks.

Just tell them you're married, and give them your mom's name.

They won't ask for marriage certificate. Give it a shot. You only lose if you dont try it.

i wouldnt do the state minimum. if someone was to sue you, you want to have a good amount of coverage. minimum i would go with would 50/100/50. its not much more than 10/20/10. it will pay out for you if you are at fault up ro $50k per person, $100k per accident, $50k for property damage. id hate to only have $10k in property damage and hit a lexus or a benz. $50k will cover most cars on the roads these days.
I had the same problem about 2 months ago. I didnt want to spend 200+ (thats what my friend pays with his mustang from progressive) a month because im 17. I went with direct general/florida no fault because it's the cheapest and i just got the basics. I pay about 94 dollars a month or 1,000 a year being a teenager with about a year of driving experience.
Yeah i know i have the possibility of getting sued if i mess up, but im not rich and just want to be legal.
BTW car is 96 Ford Probe GT. You would prob be the same price or less.
Hope it helps you.

Until then, you have several choices:

-Taxi
-Bicycle, moped, goped
-Ride with a friend
-Whatever else you can think of w/o you being behind the steering wheel.
-Or just drive w/o insurance, like some people do.
