Default Rules for Fuel Cells

Are fuel cells required to have some sort of plastic lining, or follow some kind of guideline to make them street legal?

Fuel cells are gas tanks for some of you who don't know what fuel cells are.

I'm not too up-to-date on regulations... but I thought certain bladders and canisters were only required for certain forms of racing, nothing special required for street use.

I was running an aluminum Summit cell in my truck. Nothing was ever said about it.

I think he wants to know street laws since he's asking for street legal guidelines.

there has to be some sort of "firewall" between the cabin and the fuel cell.

I dont think fuel cells are street legal. (maybe if you get one of the super-duper $1000+ Fuel safe ones, they might be) Seems like there would be a lot of liability in fuel cells used on the streets since they do not undergo NHTSA crash testing.
