You guys are unfucking believeable! I shed tears and cringed and even held a hand up too my eyes and screamed out "MAKE IT STOP"! Your all forgetting that if you were 18 and your dad brought home a big fuck off shiny new Vette, you'de want to get in and drive that bitch coz at 18, you are unstoppable on the road. Granted, most of you wouldn't kill that gorgeous piece of automotive work. Or would you?
I'm not saying give the kid a break. He had to learn the very very hard way. And he'll NEVER EVER forget this. Neither will his dad. Just dont babble on about how stupid the kid was for ever thinking about driving that car......

for some reason I'm thinking you are either (a) the 18 year old in question or (b) a close friend of his

well either way no one is doubting wanting to drive a c6 z06 at 18 would be
a dream, but driving like a complete idiot and going way beyond your own
abilities is what seperates some of us

Eh, he's right though.

Way way way way way way way way way way way back in '91 when my dad got his 5.0 LX I was constantly racing people and doing stupid shit. It was funny because my dad would say, "Don't be hard on my car" when I was leaving, then "who'd you beat???" when I would get home. Never wrecked it, though I won't say it was because of good judgement. Mostly luck and a little dab of skill, OK, it was luck

no, i would realize that i am driving a $70,000 dollar car. i would also expect my dad to be with me everytime i sat in the car, and be responsible enough to take the car to a track to open it up. you are an idiot. diaf.

I dont know this kid. I live in Oz. And I WASN'T reading thru this thinking "awwww, why dont dose mean boys weve him awone. It wasn't his fault....."
What I am saying, is that everyone seems to forget that we were all once young and stupid and invincible. Some of us back then would be responsible and if we WERE to drive that sweet ride, would respect it every inch of the way. Others might just want to 'taste' a little of what she had to offer. If you are to have me believe you would get in your mum/dads new $70,000 Vette and just cruise around the streets never going about 4000rpm, I wouldn't believe you. We dont know if this kid was driving like an idiot or if he had a moment where it just got away from him. Shit happens.
Once again, I'm not saying give this guy a break. Some of you need to come down from whatever cloud your on and remember that as kids we think very differently to now..........

eg.... I use to drive round with my 12 inch boxed subs booming all the time. Now, that shits me when cars do it. I want to stab them in their temples with a blunt spoon! But that's just me

Ohhhh, that's right, way back when I was 18 my mum and dad ALWAYS let me take there cars to the track to flog them senseless.

You missed the point tool!

Hehe....naw. Need C6 Z06 parts, not C5. Dad wrecked the C6 vert, and trying to talk him into doing a Z06 conversion (body)...but so far, no go.

I do miss the ole C5 Z06....how has she been treating you in NY?

The car has been running well. I've already put a good chunk of change into the car with a B&B exhaust, cold air intake, HP PLus pads, rotors and Motul fluid, changed every fluid in the car...the list goes on. You know how it is, the cars are never good enough. The car's been running good. Only 250 miles on it since the trek home from Florida. Heading to Watkins Glen next week, so that will be the real test. News of this thread and the wrecked C6s made it all the way up here. Hope your dad is doing ok...send my regards. Take care.

With this talk of doing a conversion... Did anyone see the article on page 58 of Vette magazine? There's a C6 that had a few parts bolted on that is putting more power down than a C6 ZO6, for a mere $5k or so. Let's see... $42k for a C6, plus $5k for mods, comes to $47k. $47k is much better than the stupid $70k+ that dealers are getting. Now, if I could afford it, I'd definately have a Z, but if I couldn't, I'd go the route that the red C6 in Vette Magazine went, for sure.
BTW, the magzine is either May or June's issue... I think it was June's.
