BUT...... if you are a 25 and younger with a few things on your record Esuarnce and Progressive will be your best bet, unless you get on mommy and daddy's spin off .

JUST FOR THE LOVE OF CHRIST STAY AWAY FROM FLA NO-FAULT OR DIRECT GENERAL
i worked for progressive for 5 years. im also an insurance agent, and im sure you've heard the horror stories about these companies. ask any repair shop about progressive claims and they will tell you that they hate to do progressive work. i heard this stuff when i worked for progressive, but didnt believe it until i started working with repair shops. i was involved in an accident with a progressive employee, in the progressive parking lot, and he had progressive insurance. and while they wasted no time in cutting me a check(im sure you know that tactic, which is shady), they put a used rear bumper on my car, and i took the car to a "progressive preferred shop". i didnt know the rear bumper was used until i got into another accident and saw the shiny red paint under my gold paint.

you should also know USAA is doing horrible. when ever they do horrible, we get tons of applications, haha. they will soon be shutting down their call center in new tampa.

and +1 on fl no-fault/direct. they suck, but i did have a good claims outcome with them. i recently totalled my accord because another driver failed to yeild the right of way, he had direct. direct covered all my aftermarket parts without reciepts, just photos and links to prices. but they could have been treating me better because i was an insurance agent, and the fact that i was fully prepared for legal action.

Direct just sucks all the way around. They are a shady ass buisness and they need to be ran out of the state of florida. I personally blame them for the 65% or more rate of uninsured motorised on the streets but thats all about them. This industrie is hard enough in florida with out non-standard companies.

i never worked with progressive and im glad that i didnt take that job with USAA

I have also heard the horror stories on progressive, I switched from them when they told me my rates would go up from $120/month to $300/month when I got the trans am. Geico was the cheapest @ $250/month and just 4 months ago they lowered it to $190/month. For no reason!

when i shop for insurance, the deciding factor is how they operate as far as claims, not the cost of the policy. to give you an example, esurance and progressive are terrible at handling claims, they use used or aftermarket parts to repair your car instead of OEM. my friend filed a claim with esurance when someone poured sugar in his gas tank, and his engine siezed up. esurance tried to tell my friend that sugar in the gas tank is harmless and they didnt want to cover his claim. and my freind the co-operator of a performance shop.

try to go with a company with a top claims reputation, allstate/statefarm/travelers/etc.

also, the best people to ask this question is body/repair shops.
First of all, any insurance company will put an LKQ or aftermarket part onto a vehicle older than one year. It is an insurance company's duty to indemnify the parties involved, not put them off in a better spot they were before the accident. Example: A 2004 Honda Accord gets into an accident today. The 2004 Honda Accord obviously had a 2-year old bumper on it prior to the accident. That car will get an LKQ bumper off an 04+ Honda Accord....NOT a brand new OEM part. It is the shop's duty to prep/paint that piece properly...so you shouldn't even know it was a different color prior to installation on the vehicle.

Secondly, sugar in the gas tank hardly ever works...which explaines why Progressive may have needed to further investigate the matter. Granual sugar generally sinks harmlessly to the bottom of the tank. If it is picked up, generally it blocks up the filter or the fuel pump pick-up. You hardly ever see granual sugar that has been pourd in the tank actually make it up to the injectors because the gas in the tank doesn't easily dissolve the sugar so it can pass through the filter. Pre-dissolved sugar products like syrup, coca-cola, etc are a different story all together. THAT can royally mess up your fuel system.
