GM High Tech Performance is pretty good. Only mag I'll buy if I can find it. They have mostly LSx powered and Turbo 3.8 coverage, which pretty much describes my garage and username.

It doesn't matter what the media format is you find your info on, they;re all owned by someone else and will write up what ever they're paid to write up. It sucks but that's just the way it is. I'm a die hard mopar guy, so when Road and Track did a test between the GTO and SRT-8 Charger and said the GTO had a faster 1/4 time I had to instantly question it, cause I've seen many a GTO run and the fastest time I've ever seen a stock one ever run was 13.8-13.7 but according to R&T there's ran a 13.4 I've seen and SRT-8 bone stock run 13.3 but according to them it runs 13.7. But R&T is owned by GM so there would be no chance at all of them fudging on the times that were put down. There's a lot of places out there to get info these days, my advice is to look at all of them and make your own decision from there, there's a lot of bullshit out there these days and it's up to you to decifer through it and pick what you wanna believe.

Thats one thing I like about SCC, the times the car ran and the numbers it puts down on the dyno are non-corrected, shitty Irwindale cali air or not.
It's too bad they totally went down the crapper when the new editor came in. I still don't know the story on that one, or why Jacquot is now listed in the back as senior editor. All I know is that the magazine is more of a pamphlet now, and the features have been kind of weak. There was one issue right after the switch that had so many copy editing errors that it was pathetic.

So true.

The opinions in the rags are just entertainment. I'll read the critics just so I can laugh at all the shit they write about that I couldn't care less about. The facts are what matter. Tell me the size of the motor, HP, Torque, Power to weight, stopping, g's, etc. and I suppose some ETs and I'll take it from there.

Hate to say it, but I agree, the last 2 issues are barely thicker together than one of the old ones. And they had to out the Holset us turbo 2.3 guys covet as a bargain turbo, I had to pay twice as much for mine as they did.

I haven't picked up a copy of SCC in years, but I used to read regularly. They were starting to do some interesting stuff with the rally beater and ol' whats-his-face working with a World Challenge TC team. What happened, the new editor just doesn't like doing his job?

I read GRM pretty much exclusively these days. It's coming from a slightly older person's perspective than mine, but I appreciate the detatchment from any trendy "scenester" crap and that they don't assume you already know everything.

I know there used to be something called Makes and Models, or something like that. Is that still around or is it any good anymore?

Yea it's around, it actually has an office off of Florida Ave. in Lutz/Tampa, I see copies all the time at Publix and stuff and they have a couple Hummers they drive around up in North Tampa.

Hands down the worst Car Magazine has to Performance Auto & Sound though, Rice and Half-assed work galore, those guys up in Canada need some standards.

whats GRM, and yeah, makes and models has top-end cars, but some of the models look kinda old and ugly, thats one reason i do like super street, no models, if i want a half naked chick, i'll go look at one, but like import tuner, they focus more on the models than they do on the cars, but yeah, tuner magazines are kinda going down the tube, maybe they were always down there, just now i'm finding out about it
