Corrado from 90-92 had the G60 Supercharged 1.8L engine. Corrado from 93-95 had the VR6. Scirroco never came with a VR6. Personally I would get a BMW 318TI. It's a hatchback and there are endless possibilities with what you can do to it. M3 swap is a common route though.

If you dont know anything about cars stay away from the rx7, you will run out of money quick. As for the 5.0 mustang, you probally would be happy with one of those. you can even get a v6 mustang, granted its not the 5.0 but it will fit your requirements.

Can you give more details on what you are going to be using the car for? besides just waht you want? You looking for a car you can make a project out of? you looking for a sports car, a eco car?

Cadillac didn't make very many cool cars in the early 90's, and late 90's cars are going to be out of your price range. If you have to get a Caddy, don't bother getting anything with the 4.6L FWD setup. It's a piece of shit. Do like I did, find an old guy selling a Bro-Ham. I picked my '87 up for $1500, and it's one clean ride. Don't expect to race anything in it though, it's a big, slow, comfy turd.

I'm looking for livable fuel economy, for a 17-year old, with enough balls to still be fun. MY two biggest issues would be parents and insurance. I don't know where the 5.0 would quite fall in that range, but they're bad-ass and have an aftermarket comparable to the sbc. I know cars, hence me fear of the rotary. I need an engine I can rely upon not to need a rebuild regularly. I am a huge fan of American muscle, but fuel and initial cost tend to be worrysome. I appreciate all this feedback.

Ye of little faith.

If you hadnt said '1st car' i'd say get an RX7 TurboII - but i dont want to see another one of those get wrecked

1989 Subaru justy AWD manual - those things ROCK and they look like a tercel too Gets wicked good gas mileage too (being a 3-cyl and all)

Well if all you've got is $4k then that's about all you're gonna find on the fast end of things, if you look more to reliable and daily driveable your options are a little more open.
