wow are you mis-informed, a fwd civic with with 300whp would stomp a rwd mustang/camaro with rwd and 300whp. don't tell me it won't, I've done it in my crx when it only had 250hp. the rwd cars are typically heavier cars and therefore need more hp to go just as fast, and if you don't believe that then learn some physics first.

Just for the record, I'd feel like a complete moron if I had to swap motors to go 14's. A turbo = easy 12's? Give me a break.
a motor swap to do 14's, on a stock motor, while getting 32mpg.... not bad. now the reason for the swap.....the motor wasn't put in that car to begin with, and don't act like the fwd never have to swap motors to get more power. given the older chevy v6's that only came with 100hp stock there are plenty of rwd that do a motor swap and are lucky to get into 14's but then still have only 24mpg.

if you don't like to do a swap then just turbo what's in it, a stock d-series motor with turbo will put out enough to get atleast into mid 13's. I have done swaps and gone turbo so I know how easy it is or isn't. I am also in the middle of swapping a 95lt1 motor into an 80 el camino so I know what a fucking headache that is. I'd would rather swap a fwd, or install several turbo's before I do this rwd swap again.

Read the original post, this guy is saying he is on a budget so fuel economy is a concern. plus even if it was an all out drag car, it's still nice to be able to drive it home and not have to stop every few miles to fill up. Getting more mpg while getting more power is good engineering and testifies to the thought that was put into the motor, or maybe the engineers were just lucky.

for the record I don't hate rwd, as I am doing a swap currently on a rwd, however I have worked with both and found the fwd to be the better of the 2 for a daily driver that not only needs good fuel economy but also wants decent power and a little show, on a budget.

For a budget depending on the swap, the rwd's have more to put out, it's not just the motor. the tranny, driveshaft, and rear end may all need swapping as well. whereas most fwd swaps have the tranny attached and is commonly assumed to be part of the motor, then just use the old axles, or get ones from a different model car. with rwd Over half the motor I went to look for were without the tranny, you can't just buy an axle from a different vehicle you have to cut and weld the existing axle, then the rear end.....can it handle the power your putting in??? if not get one that can $$$$$$ I'd rather pay $120 for 2 new axles than $800 for a rear end and $100 for a cut and weld. for less than $2000 I can do a full motor swap on a civic, for $2000 I can get the motor and rear end for the chevy, but I'd still need motor mounts, ecu conversion, tranny crossmember, axle modification, radiator swap... the list is too long.

Dude dont be a douche... yes 1000#'s will make a difference in a car.. if you take a 300hp fwd and a 300hp rwd with the same weight the rwd will ALWAYS be quicker... ALWAYS!.. Therefore the ruling on the field still stands and you're charged with 1 time out..

hahaha boostin I concur. I have beaten plenty of fwd's that are lighter and had more power. I am confident I could beat any 500hp fwd from a dig. Show me a fwd timeslip of a car with 360-400hp that has a 1.5 60 foot on a full chasis. and I will admit I am wrong. Somebody know the 60 foot on the goodwill dsm? thats fwd isnt it?
