That is definatly a sweet car. I guess the extra weight doesn't really hurt the motor's performance. However if you wrecked that it would suck for two main reasons:

1. you would've just ruind a fuckin' $1.2+ million car

2.

ok just alil info on that car it is not 1 of 1 there is i beleave 10 made like that with the l88 option, also they put so big of tanks in them for one reason, remember in the 60s u could by race cars from the factory well these cars where made for road racing in mind to compete against the 427 shelby cobra and ferries.so what u guys are looking at is a factory badass race car.i seen one go on barret jackson the same color and options for 300,000.00 so i'm suprized that it is up that high in price but it is a nice car.but i would still take the copo camaro over it anyday witch is the baddest car that ever rolled of the chevy line.

You seem to be very knowledgeable on this topic, oh wait, that was all explained at the bottom of the page somewhere, oh right here:

The car you thought did not exist is up for auction! This is 1 of 4 1967 Vettes produced and only 2 are actually known of. This is the only one with the option of L-88 WITH the 36 gallon fuel tank. aka ''THE TANKER''. This is the RAREST and unique 1967 produced.

The L88 is the '' Holy Grail '' of collectible big-block 427 motor was installed in a very limited number of production Corvettes from 1967 through 1969. It is best described as a full-race motor, available to the public for street use, straight from the factory. But its offering on the RPO option list was listed there in disguise. Chevrolet wanted to produce a high-performance Corvette that was second to none. But they also didn?t want the inexperienced horsepower-seeking youth ordering one without realizing the true potential of the L88. Also, it was necessary to have the L88 Corvette conform to various government regulations, insurance companies, as well as Chevrolet's own horsepower policy. Therefore, the publicized rating for the horsepower of the L88; was manipulated by Chevrolet.

This L88 with 12.5 to 1 compression, hi-lift cam, 850 CFM 4 barrel Holley carb and painted aluminum heads has approx 560 HP.

The true intent of the L88 was for all-out performance on the racetrack. For example the L88s were delivered without fan shrouds and they did not have chokes. Additionally there was the Radio and Heater delete that was mandatory on the L88.

The 67 L88 is extremely RARE as there were only 20 of them produced -- which some feel are 20 of the most desirable Corvettes ever built.

This car has been meticulously restored and is all matching numbers. (see pics). A magnetic particle inspection was performed in March 2004 by one top testing companies in the country to prove the authenticity and document identification numbers on the car's engine block, transmission, and frame of this car.

Vehicle Id Numbers:
- Engine Block: T0524IT and 7122777
- Frame: 7S122777
- Transmission: 7S122777 (M-22)
(Reference Photos Below)

This Corvette took 4 years to restore and no expense was spared. Every part is Original or NOS. The estimsted value of this car exceeds 1.2 million and may fetch as much as 3 million at the Barrette-Jackson Auction.

THIS IS A ONCE IN A LIFETIME OPORTUNITY TO OWN THIS RARE PIECE OF MUSCLE CAR HISTORY!

well i'm just letting u know the real deal.its a fact that many l88 427 came in the vettes in that year and where either rated at 425hp or u could get the much rarer option witch was a 435hp l88.there was many tankers produced for racing any person could get the tanker option.and 427 where also in vettes in the 70s,this guy is trying to make this car out to something it is not.if u watched the barret jaskson auction this year u would of seen 2 1967 tanker vettes come up for auction both where 427s one was a 425hp and the other was a 435hp.so it is a nice restore job and so on but if u know your shit it is not 1 of only 4.and the only one know to still be around.

[QUOTE=g-50Cab]yeah, saw that - 105 MO or 95 RO

Significance of RON and MON

For clarity it is useful to provide a general overview of an octane number. An octane number is a quantitative, but imprecise measure of the maximum compression ratio at which a particular fuel can be utilized in an engine without some of the fuel /air mixture "knocking" or self igniting. This self ignition of the air/fuel mixture in the cylinder results in a loss of peak power. Directionally as the compression ratio of the engine increases so does the required octane number of the gasoline if engine knocking is to be avoided.

Question?
Don't most engines these days have knock sensors that change the timing
when an engine knocks? Doesn't that eliminate the previous worry about low octane fuel? What is your thought on this?-Bob
