Lusting for a 7...
Greetings!
So, I am finally admitting I have an obsession...
It's with a 3rd Generation RX-7...
So I have decided that the only way to cure it is to buy one! (Smart thinking, no?) I've got a little while before I will comfortably have the means of doing so, but here's where I need the help... I need advice on buying one!!! If you all know of any great websites about RX-7s, any good books, articles, knowledgeable people to talk to, etc, they will all be greatly welcomed!!! Recommended mechanics will be needed as well, who do you trust?
Many many thanks to you all, I appreciate the help!!!

http://www.rx7club.com/ Great forums on all gens of RX-7s.
I never owned a 3rd gen, I owned 2 2nd gens and loved them. I also want a 3rd gen, and I will someday. The styling on them is so sweet, a true sportscar. Good luck.

RX-7's like URBANRCR said are not a do it yourselfer starter car. It truely is an exotic. The 3rd gen rotory turbo engine is fragile if pushed with to much boost. The apex seals will be the first to go if pushed, especially on a higher milage engine. Heat is the other thing that kills the 3rd gen RX7. The underhood temps can cause problems if not monitored and corrected.
The best RX7 guy in the area is Scott at Mazspeed in St. Pete. My buddy takes his RX7 there for everything.

A cure to all of the RX7's problems can be found here http://www.torquecentral.com/forumdi...sprune=30&f=11
You will get alot more responses if you go to the Mazda part of the forum and ask that. Thats where the rotaries are at.
If you get one before you buy it check the compression. If the compression is bad dont waste your money you will be putting alot into it later.
Expect repairs, have a decent amount of money set aside for repairs. Even if you do it yourself you still gotta get parts which sometimes dont come cheap.
If you are ablet o have spare parts keep them. You will probally need them later or know someone that will.
These things eat oil like theres no tommarow. ALWAYS keep oil with you in your car. I usually keep breakfluid as well, since ive had bad luck with my clutch.
When you buy one ask when was the last rebuild. If its been 100k or more, you may be needing one real soon, or you may not it depends on how well it was taken care. off.
Parts are hard to come by sometimes, most autopart stores dont carry what we need. Ebay is your best friend for this.
