yeah,its called pick up the phone and call the DMV field operation officers.there the ones who deal with rebuilts,assmebled from parts(KITS)

and they will tell you that it has to be brought to them for inspection.and they know what gray market cars are,and when they see you trying to title a gray market car as a ASPT (assembled from parts) you will see the answer they will give you.and its not what you want to hear

i done ASPT titles, and i title a min of 2 JDM cars a week.And before some kid comes on and and says BS, i have copy of the titles to prove it

 

ima have to agree with u.ur right. my uncle takes trips to japan very often and a friend of his up north imported a skyline in parts as a kit car and no one gave him probs.the only thing is u either have to go there urself or find a reliable person over there u can trust to take the car apart for u thats the only prob he had.
