fueleconomy.gov said the same thing. I guess if you're going to go 80mph while dogging it in 6th gear, yeah, you might get 29mpg. I think I go 80mph about 0% of the time during a normal work week though.

 

i have a red 02 audi a4 w/ 50k miles it is *FULLY LOADED* (it has everything except power seats), tinted windows, 50k miles 3yr full warranty, and i think it has some sort of sports package...it has a factory wing i have never seen before on any other a4 and it seems to ride a little bit lower than other a4s too. im thinking about getting rid of it and getting something a little more balls to the wall and sportier (i miss my mr2 ) so if you are interested let me know we might be able to work something out.

its 5 speed but it has the regular 5 spoke audi wheels.

Why not go with a regular wrx? You could get a used 04 or 05 in that price range.

The 6th gear on Corvettes and Camaros is like 0.50:1. They cruise way low on the highway.

 

WRX, Cooper S, RSX Type S... one of those would be my choice. Probably the Cooper.
